Rock was funnier, but Austin made you believe. When he said someone was getting their ass kicked, you knew straight up, someone was getting their ass kicked.

I've been watching some of his stuff with Bret
Bret was legit one of my childhood heroes but after a couple months of Austin promos I was like 'Get him Steve'. Threw that pink and black piece of crap in the bushes. You could not convince me that Stone Cold Steve Austin was not the baddest man on the planet at that point, and even watching it now you can still feel it. It's pure raw energy, this is an angry pissed off man and he is gonna kick your ass. Nobody did it better.

Austin breh but I wouldn't argue with anyone who says Rock at one point they were very close imo.
To me Austin could do ANY type of promo though, dude could have you

Austin, he was more versatile and consistent on the mic. When the "What" thing took off he solidified himself as being one of the most well rounded speakers. Rocky was mean on the mic himself during his prime but he would drop a turd here and there. Plus toothfairy was cornball status by 2002 while Austin never lost his stuff.
