Why do people forget that Russo had the book in TNA for the majority of his time there? His writing is stuck in 1998-99, and by 99' it was getting corny as shyt. Dude didn't do shyt in WCW and his big angle was the worst incarnation of the NWO.
What they do need is someone unknown, like what Russo was, who could think outside of the box. They also need a Rock or Austin to make it work, because good writing isn't going to move anything with the lukewarm roster WWE has today. None of those guys have any drive-- they're just happy to be there because it was their dream, or to begrudgingly collect a paycheck.
As for Nash and Hall, sure. From what I remember, the commentary was never good. Might as well have two people laugh and make fun of everything. It made that NXT season with the women worth watching.
