all religions have smug believers, but which one is the most over-the-top with its smugness? which religion pound-4-pound has the most people believing they know the secrets of the universe and everyone else is just an ignorant cur?

i'd say christians are the most smug generally, followed by atheists (lets be honest here atheism has become its own religion at this point)

i don't really see those who are religious acting smug regardless of their religion. However atheists do feel they are superior in intelligence to those who believe in religion. Atheism isn't technically a religion but its a group of people who don't believe in anything that can't be proven by scientific theories and they seem to go out of their way to discredit religion in all its forms. They tend to talk down about believers and are pretty arrogant.

So atheists should be leading this poll in my opinion

getting that out of the way, by volume, nobody beats christianity. there are about 2 billion christians and many of them are smug: missionaries, colonialists, imperialists, racists, prosperity preachers, bible thumpers, etc.

i almost said scientology, but that would just be judging a small cult by the personality traits of tom cruise and the current leader of their church. that wouldnt be fair.
