These 3 dominated the radio waves during my high school years 04-08 but it doesn't take a trained ear to notice that all of them have struggle voices. Without great production teams behind them, these 3 would have never made it in the industry. But who does the coli say is the worse of the 3?
Behold the evidence below:
Ciara - Called to be the next R&B superstar to take Aaliyahs lane, Ciara burst onto the scene I think in 2003 as a seemingly dual threat singer and dancer. With hits such as Goodies, 1-2 Step, Promise & And I, Ciara managed to carve out a lane in the mid 2000's and be very successful.
Ashanti - This diva made her solo debut in 2001 and had stiff competition in the likes of one hit wonders Nivea, Tweet & Amerie. But with a strong production team in Murder Inc, Ashanti was really the 1st R&B diva to take off in the early 2000's following the death of Aaliyah; atleast until Beyonce crushed the buildings in 03.
Keyshia Cole - Obviously built to be the modern day Mary J. Blige, Keyshia had a strong career being that urban, street chick that sang with strong emotion. Coming out in 2004, She was the last of these 3 to make her entrance. But I remember her song "Love" shutting down the streets and hallways of my high school.
