Just rewatched Raging Bull.. Didn't remember it being like this :francis:

Jake Lamotta is an actual savage. In a way I think Travis is more relatable, because at least he has a value system (even if its a deranged one)

Jake Lamotta is a blank face. Straight up killer and nothing else. Reminds me of Pacino in Godfather 2:wow:

Travis had more of a moral code. His disdain for things going on the world was not much different than anyone else. He just took action on it.

Jake was an insecure, paranoid scumbag

Travis was probably worse, but he does have more relatable things about him, and he’s fictional. Jake LaMotta was a real person. According to his own autobiography, the movie version of him was a saint compared to the real version.

In the book, he graphically describes raping a virgin until she bled, also talks about losing his virginity via rape, beating a bookie near to death, and beating his girlfriend near to death in a drunken blackout rage. He was worried that a murder would ruin his career, so his brother suggested dumping the body in a lake.

It’s just the autobiography Raging Bull that LaMotta wrote.

The movie naturally toned it down and did not have scenes about some of the crimes he described committing. It’s only hinted at when he says “I’ve done a lot of bad things, maybe it’s coming back to me” after he loses a decision after one of the Robinson fights.
