With the Ravens on the brink of extinction - what defense has the best chance of dominating the league over the next 8-10 years? And is it possible, is there x-person that can carry shyt like Lewis did for over a decade? What franchise is most-likely to have an offensive-deficiency long enough (to tip the 50/50 scale) for their defense to get all the plaudits?

the league has plenty of young defensive talent, JJ Watt, Earl Thomas, Bruce Irvin, etc, but considering how the game is so pro-offense now, I don't think ANYONE will become a figurehead of the league the way that Ray did.

as far as next great defense, 49ers are there now imo. Texans right on the brink. two young defensive units that we're gonna watch fukk shyt up for a good few years.:win:

Naw, that's not an accurate reason as to why there won't be a figurehead like Lewis again. Yes, there's rules/general approaches/make-up directions that have changed, that favor offense-productivity but defences have adapted and will further, in time. It's basically a breakdown of placement and counter; the game will always be a pull of power-struggle from both sides of the ball.

You have a point, but at the same time look at the next generation of players that are developing: Cam, RG3, Luck, Cruz, Gronk, Megatron, etc.

Maybe you're right and this is just the reign of offense but I dont see it ending for a while.

On the other side of the ball: Mark Barron, Chandler Jones, Von Miller, Patrick Peterson, Aldon Smith, J.J Watt, Bruce Irvin etc etc

Look at all the big-offensive names in the Lewis-era: Manning, Brady, Tomlinson, Moss, Gonzalez etc etc.

In general, for every x-offensive player there's gonna be that y-defensive player to counter that; not always equally but there'll always be an indirect counterpart. It's not really possible to go through a offensive-period like you say, shyt just wouldn't work in a game where balance is basically everything.
