I've been working retail since May...

The Pros: Guranteed paycheck every two weeks

I can now get insurance (med, dent, vis) for cheap

It's part time, varies between 12-21 hours a week

When I move onto a 4 year school I can transfer when needed (Guranteed job wherever I go basically)

Cons: Pay fukking sucks

Hours vary too much, nothing's ever Guranteed

I feel like I should get a full time job just for the $$ while I'm in school.... Sucks being broke..

Any good part time jobs while in school

Any one else work full time while in school

Thoughts?

Put in work while you're in college. Once you get that degree apply for jobs within the company relocate if you have to. :yeshrug:

-Do something related to your major.
-Research related to your field preferably STEM. There's alot of funding for REU and projects throughout the year. Have to work under a professor though NH
-Office/administrative work

I have had many bullshyt jobs but right now I work in the computer lab and also library at my university. They only offer 20 hours max but I essentially do my Homework and forum/innanet shyt while getting paid; not to mention I think this type of job is a good resume builder. I also work at a retail place right now but with Holidays over hours are getting cut. Luckily I'm in a Online program so my availability is somewhat flexible.

I think the best place to work is Starbucks or Pete's. Flexible hours...benefits, young coworkers who are relatively close. Decent pay and tips. I did it, was a great time. Still close with my coworkers.

Test prep companies are usually good to work for because they pay a bit more and have low after-school hours. You need a good SAT score though

Like the other breh said try to look for opportunities on campus..even better if it's closely related to your major.

I do part-time IT support (MIS major) for our athletic department. Easy job for me (chill , answer emails, and deal with basic computer questions) and I basically set my own hours, which is cool cause it allows me to work another job that pays substantially more but something I would not want to do forever.

I worked at unionized grocery store. I don't think many exist outside of california.

I was paid 20 dollars an hour (time n half on sundays) and I received much better dental, medical and vision benefits than I have recieved at any job. I have much better paying jobs now, but my benefits are no where near as generous as my college job. basically I paid nothing out of pocket for nearly everything.

if you can get in at a Union grocer, i'd highly recommend it. only, it's hard to study and do homework(crazy hours) management won't provide flexibility.

I graduated with no debt because of that job though.
