Wilder pushed through them in the third fight, both during the fight and prior (hence the long weight prior to the start.)

Both camps signed off on all gloves at all times in all fights.

This is boxing, there's tricks of the trade at every corner, it doesn't mean you are guaranteed the win, but you try to get an advantage at any chance.

It is what it is, it doesn't make up for lack of fundamentals, but fukking with gloves within the confines of the rules is a real thing.
