Legendary moment...it shocked me ...of course we were all kids so it worked out even better. After what Vader did to Sting, who would of thought Simmons could dethrone him? Amazing spur of the moment decision. Ron told the story that it wasn't built up..just something they wanted to do.

Growing up in a diverse neighborhood, I didn’t see racism. I only saw it in movies, so I didn’t grasp the historical significance of it until afterwards. However, my dad was super pumped up because it was the first time one of us won the world title, plus he remembered the from Ron’s storyline with Luger the year before.

Saturday as a kid was wrestling haven. I got WCW Sat morning show at 9:05 am. WWE show at 12, then 1 PM, followed by American Gladiators at 2 PM. Then WCW sat night show and WWF at 7. Sometimes Main Event on NBC as well. We were spoiled in Toronto.
