When do you think continential black people get the concept of the head nod/recognizing other black people in the states?

I'm currently in physical rehab, and I've always given the headnod/sup/how are you doing recognition to other people. There's another black person here that I see, and when I give the head nod to him he just looks at me funny, so for the new generational black people here, do you not give the head nod back, and if so, when did you start?

Maybe it’s because of something you have on you or how you look?

How i look? Is there something about how someone black looks that would prevent recognition from others? I don't have that problem with most black people

So... I was a Pan Africanist in theory just over a decade ago, but what solidified it was so much of the stuff I'd see at this job with various people from various countries.

I remember one time this lady was talking to another lady, and Idk what they said but the way they laughed and dapped each other up :dwillhuh: shyt was spooky. I gotta dig for it but I remember seeing a video during covid from some country modifying how they greet each other. Again :dwillhuh: and just think of shyt like Djembes vs beating on a table, or hambone. The overlap is undeniable once you start to look out for it.

But yeah, why didn't they nod back to OP? :dahell: This is the problem with Pan-Africanism

Anecdotally, when I was in Japan I got head nods from most the black people I saw regardless of where they were from. Also I noticed gen z ain't on the head nod as much as my and older generations were. My age and older it's in the 90 percentile.
