When did Tyson Fury become this unbeatable mythical fighter?

Public consensus seems to act like Fury is unbeatable God that can't be touched and will blow everyone out. I keep seeing and hearing that if he gets in a fight with AJ or anyone else it will be an easy win. He has quickly become the most overrated fighter in boxing.

Otto Wallin almost beat him before the second Wilder fight...everyone forgot about that or maybe they didn't watch it so they have no idea it happened:sas2:

Fury ain't untouchable.

That fight was also one of the reasons so many people still picked Wilder to still win the rematch despite knowing how limited he looked in the first fight.

Good thing some of us knew better. :obama:

There are reasons. But he's good at selling himself. He beat Wlad but the way he was behaving after the fight was :patrice:. It seemed to me that he wanted no parts of the rematch and then retired shortly after. (Sounds familiar?) He's been dropped before by Steve Cunningham whom at the time was coming up from cruiserweight.
Had a dangerous first fight with Chisora.

His main attributes are his movement and his awkward style that can bait people into traps

That being said he is very hittable. As much criticism I have for Wilder, he was able to get his paws on Fury in the first fight. In their second fight I was frustrated with Wilder because Fury left himself open for jabs and left hooks. But he kept loading up the right instead of making Fury guess where the next punch will come from.

Fury walks into the ring with better attributes than his opponent all the time, height, reach and weight and he can move and feint well.

AJ can beat him without knocking him out, people seem to think AJ can't outbox him but I think he can but he has to be smart and disciplined. The fight is a 50-50 to me

AJ can't outbox but he can land on him, Fury being perceived as untouchable is ducktales

I think AJ can win on points. I mean remember when everyone thought Fury only beats Wilder on points but if there's a KO it will be Wilder. And looked what happened. Fury beat him up bad.

Anything can happen.

You have a point, I think Fury is a very good fighter but to say he is absolutely unbeatable isn't true. Many people thought he lost to McDermott in their first fight for 1, the Wallin fight he was cut up and risked being stopped, got knocked down by Wilder twice, by Cunninham (who was previously a Crusierweight) and also Pajkic. Overall he also hasn't consistently fought top level competition.

I do think he's a talented fighter with a good skill set and his natural huge size is a major advantage but unbeatable? Nope. He got beat around 3-5 times in the amateurs I believe and got knocked down/or lost to David Price I believe too in amateurs.

This doesn't mean he won't end up being the best of the current bunch, we don't know yet, but people get caught up in the invincibility hype, none of these current fighters are invincible. Fury looks to me is trying to create the illusion of invincibility by beating AJ and then possibly retiring undefeated, but if he stayed and fought all the top contenders he'd eventually get beat too. The AJ fight is intriguing cause it will be the best fighter he's fought, AJ battered him in sparring when AJ was an amateur. Both have improved since then though and of course sparring is different from a fight, but AJ if he fights well has the ability to cause him problems.
