(1) I don't believe in god(s)...But I wish I did, because I believe I would have been a better and more successful human being...
But unfortunately for me, I have a magnetic attraction towards existential nihilism...

(2) But this is the reason why I state that people who truly believe in god(s) can't lose...
For example, consider a theist businessman who starts a new enterprise...He can either be successful or fail...It's like a coin toss...

For me, the coin is heads (success) or tails (failure), but for that theist businessman, the coin is rigged, because both sides are heads, meaning...
(A) If the business succeeds, then the theist businessman says "God(s) blessed me, this is a sign that I was meant to be in this business" and dude will be motivated to keep working to continue his success...

(B) If the business fails, then the theist businessman says "God(s) blessed me, this is a sign that I was not meant to be in this business" and dude will be motivated to search for a better investment...

(C) If the business fails, then the theist businessman says "God(s) blessed me, this is a sign that I must persevere to be in this business" and dude will be motivated to keep working to attain success...

This is some seriously POWERFUL form of self-brainwashing...How can you NOT be successful if you truly believe this way...

How can you lose, when you will always get heads whenever the coin is tossed...?

Why the hell was I cursed to not be able to have this type of an outlook on life...?

You're wrong. You can ascribe to any train of thought when it comes to business, and anything else.

I'm planning on starting a business, and if it fails I'll tweak and rework and try again. That's got nothing to do with believing in a god or gods or any type of universal power that somehow determines your fate.

A belief in a higher power can be equally able to hold a person back, like they'd think that unless God's will shows itself to them, they aren't meant to try to aspire to anything greater.

You don't need to wish you believed in a god. You need to wish you had a more constructive mindset. Then you need to realise you can have a more constructive mindset, then you need to work on having that mindset.
