you can experiment by taking the descriptions for the signs and mixing them up (use capricorn description for a scorpio, etc.) and then ask people you know if the description fits them. the people that believe in this stuff will probably say yes, even though you secretly mixed them up.
i think it is just the way they are worded, they describe mostly positive traits, then mix in some potential negative traits but only in the way you say negative things about yourself during a job interview when they ask you what your weaknesses are "oh, i work so hard that people have to tell me to take a vacation!"what about people who aren't so see through? it sounds weird to believe everyone is a clone like that

so no matter what you are describing a person as, it is flattering, and them being a complex human being means they probably can find some aspect of their life or personality (real or perceived) that seems to match what is described to them.
this video is a variation of one of the many horroscope experiments ive seen. they all differ a little, but they essentially get to the bottom of the problem of relying on self reporting for accuracy on such vague and subjective stuff
that show featuring penn and teller is meant to feature a lot of profanity and "in your face" delivery that is corny to me, but not indicative of anything more than that. furthermore, they actually show the numbers of the people who felt it was not a good match, so i dont know what you are talking about. like any experiment with a decent sample size, you get results in all categories, but draw your conclusion from where the overwhelming majority are, which was that most people thought those descriptions were accurate and personal when they certainly were notthat video doesnt really seem to be like all that great of an experiment, i read the print out at 1:21 and it reads like alot of generic descriptions that any person could consider appropriate in a very loose description but nothing that is really astute, the guy recording the video gets angry because the girl is raising her hand at 2:00 because she probably wants to point out the flaws, her and 6 others raised their hands as well for poor comparisons, its almost like this experiment proves something it wasnt ment to be testing for
