So with the recent success of Scream, it made me think about just how packed this year will be with releases. A far-cry from the drought we witnessed during the pandemic’s onstart and the general skepticism in regards to the future of the film industry then. This year seems to be filled with HEAT.

:banderas:

Matt Reeves looking to cement himself as one of the best visionary auteurs in the game come March with The Batman.

New Scorsese, Fincher, Chazelle, Peele, Aster, Aronofsky, Eggers, etc. all dropping this year.

Marvel making things you thought you would never see on the big screen as a comic book reader actually come to fruition.

A24 dropping the usual gems, but it’s going to be interesting seeing Michelle Yeoh helm this next film. Ti West’s ‘X’ looking like a cross-blend between Boogie Nights and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

What’s your most anticipated film of the year, brehs?

Killers of the Clower Moon (love Leo and Martin together)
Everything, Everywhere, All At Once ( multiverse take, A24, Michelle Yeoh)
Missions Impossible 7 (Since Ghost Protocol they just been topping themselves one movie after another, can they do it again?!)

Jordan Peele's Nope - need that threepeat

And I guess I missed it but this is the first of 3 films with Universal over the next 5 years.

Hopefully Peacock was smart enough to get streaming rights.

Speak No Evil
Speak No Evil looks like it’s gonna be wild. Descent into madness horror is among my favorite type of films so I’ll definitely be peeping this.

I’m curious about Don’t Worry Darling. Wilde has a bright directing future. Booksmart provided many laughs so to see her flip the switch completely onto this dark, thriller side is pretty interesting.

And I’m always down for more Florence Pugh.

Want to see what Matt Reeves can do with “The Batman”. Other than that, “The Northman” and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (1).
