This thread has probably been done many times before but I can't remember seing one during my short stay here at TSC.

What's everyones favourite PPV? I'm interested to see what other PPVs people have enjoyed just incase I might've slept on them.

Personally my choice would have to be the Royal Rumble 1999 PPV. One of the main reasons why this is my favourite is because my dad bought this on VHS for me and my brother for when we spent weekends at his house (his house was pretty boring for us young kids as he had no Sky TV/Playstation etc.). As there wasn't much else to do me and my brother would just sit in the room upstairs and watch this PPV over and over every weekend we stayed there and thus it sits well in the memory. Only two matches made this PPV great (I quit match and the rumble) but the filler matches were decent enough too.

As a kid I loved it and as an adult I love it. Watching it back now and it's so sad to see how poor the product has become. This PPV had a HUGE story going in to it with the Vince/Austin fued and the $100,000 bounty on Austin's head in the rumble match was brilliant.

The I quit match between The Rock and Mankind was just incredible and one of my favourite ever matches to this day. An absolute ******* war between them too. Mick got thrown off the stage and blew up that electrical box (which as a kid watching you think he's got to be dead) and took around 13 disgusting chair shots for the finish (which is extremely uncomfortable to watch back i must admit). Some other great spots in that match too. I always fondly remember The Rock saying "The bells will be ringing" before smashing Mick round the head with the ring bell :dead:- absolutely loved heel Rocky back then. He looked like such a bad *** in that tracksuit he wore. And I think the peoples elbow he gave to Mick with the steel chair is the only time that the finisher has looked like it hurt the guy recieving it. Oh and this is probably the only time I've enjoyed Michael Cole on commentary, he sold Mick's beating like a boss. But you can only imagine how great it would of been if J.R had been at the table :banderas:.

The rumble match was another amazing match purely for the Austin/Vince story that played out throughout it. I've never known a rumble match have this much of a story going in to it and then being played out throughout the match - absolutely gripping stuff. So many great bits in that rumble match, such as:

  • Roided up Vince coming out as entrant number 2 looking like he could legit kick Austin's ***:whew:
  • Vince luring Austin backstage to get jumped by the corporation.
  • Random *** people being in the rumble. Such as Olga (think that's his name - dude with the Cartman top), Kurrgan, Dan Severn. Funny thing is that Olga guy was over as **** and got a bigger pop than most guys get today and they were all dancing to his theme (dope theme by the way) in the front row.
  • Kane coming down and clearing the ring before getting jumped by some white coats. No idea what this was all about, anyone care to explain?
  • Undertaker and the ministry coming out during Mabels entrance and kidnapping him.
  • Vince coming back out to commentate all cocky and ****.
  • Austin coming back to the arena and getting that loud *** pop and the look on Vince's face was great, that big ol' swallow he does when you know he's ******* himself.
  • Then cokeboy goes and throws Austin over the top rope to win courtesy of GOAT heel Rocky :win:
Absolutely amazing PPV for me. The amount of fukkery in that rumble match was just :noah:

What's yours?

Canadian Stampede. The heat for that main event tag match was absolutely insane. Also. Great American Bash 89 is a close second due to an excellent war games(even though I prefer the dangerous alliance vs team sting on more) and the Funk/Flair main event

The Last of the Outlaws
it's hard to narrow down honestly.

it changes often but at the moment I feel like saying Great American Bash 1996 for some reason. There were some corny matches/moments for sure yet

- Had never heard of Rey Mysterio before this PPV, he became must see TV immediately after this match with Malenko

- Sting vs Regal was a strong hard hitting match, Regal smacked the shyt outta Sting at one point and had me :krs:  :damn: at the same time

- Kevin Sullivan and he who shall not be named beat the piss out of each other in a damn near uncomfortable to watch way, especially when you watch the match back knowing what we know now.

- Arn and Flair v Mongo and Kevin Greene was entertaining to me

- Luger after being sketchy for months found a way to be a sympathetic face against the Giant, I was legit worried for him

Assuming we're leaving out WM17 since that would probably be the popular choice, I would have to go with...

Summerslam 1991-Madison Square Garden, NYC

This show had it all. A great six-man tag for an opener, the classic Bret/Perfect IC Title match, Virgil winning the million dollar belt, the infamous Jailhouse match and all the post match fukkery, LOD winning the tag titles, Randy and Liz's wedding, Piper and Heenan going at it on commentary while Monsoon plays ref, this show was just :wow:

Honorable Mention:
WrestleMania III- The biggest show ever, the show where I really became hooked on wrestling
WrestleMania V- To those who are too young, there is no way to describe how hyped everyone was for this show, card was stacked and the build was GOAT status.
