Thinking about 2012 inspired me to make this topic. I think 2012 might be it for me.
- Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul and Blu are my favorite emcees and they all released stellar projects this year IMO.
- Joey Bada$$ is a phenomenal young talent. Can't believe he's only 17. 1999 was a dope mixtape.
- Skyzoo, Murs + Fashawn, Curren$y, Schoolboy Q, Killer Mike, Freddie Gibbs etc all dropped solid to great projects. Not a big fan of Meek Mill, but from what I've heard so far his album is sure to have a few great songs at worst.
- Lecrae and Bizzle both held it down massively for Christian hip hop.
- Joe Budden and Saigon are two of my other favorites and they both are going to drop what I assume will be great projects in "A Loose Quarter" and "Greatest Story Never Told II"
For all the talk that hip hop is at an all time low, I think there's a lot of greatness sprinkled throughout the bullshyt. I think 2012 has been really strong so far.
