Must make an immediate impact in the league. Winning ROY isn't required (but it definitely holds a lot of weight) but by either your first or second season, you should be putting up numbers, be an All Star, or leading your team to the playoffs or beyond...key word being leading.
You must be a two way player. Obviously, this doesn't matter in football, but if you've been a perenial All NBA teamer, for example, you need to have made a few All Defense teams in your career as well. If you were primarily a defensive player, your defense should be so impactful that you make All NBA or All Star teams.
Be a perennial All Star. This shows consistency as well as impact because you're being recognized for what you've done. I'll say you should have made an all star team at least 80% of your career.
Win MVP. This shows that you were the absolute best in your league for a particular year.
Win multiple championships. Ultimately, what it's all about is winning rings.
And one last thing that may not seem important, but I feel you should lead the league in a particular stat in your career. Obviously I'm not talking turnovers or interceptions and things of that nature, but nothing says dominance like being the league leader. I don't really put too much weight on being the ALL TIME leader in your career. All that means is you've had a long career.
Would you add anything to the list. Do you feel anything I've listed is not important to being considered GOAT contenders? Speak on it.
