I know Vince hated the man hence he fired him publicly as soon as he bought WCW

but what was the reason behind it? Did it have to do with him refusing to job to Chyna or something before he left?

Also I was reading the 50 Greatest WCW Superstars article and they mentioned Jarrett laying down for Hogan and they called it disgraceful

Whats the story there?

I was always a fan of the guy

He held them up for money to do the job to Chyna on the ppv cos he contract ran out before it,i think.I could be wrong on that but he did hold them up for more money to do the job

Vince inherently hates hillbillies but jj was a side switching turncoat who only got chance after chance because of his daddy, and buried wwf whenever he got a chance including live on nitro and held him up for cash on the way out. The STORY on him is that he is an anti draw no talent piece of shyt and he deserved to get canned like that. JJ is trash and kills crowds nationwide. Best decision vince ever made.

$250K if I'm not mistaken, for doing one job. Vince was not impressed but decided he had no choice.

He never forgot, though.

Yea he was hated back in the CWA days when he was daddy's favorite going over everyone and pulling up to shows in beamers while guys like Foley and Austin scrapped by. Thats one of the reason's Austin refused to work with him back in 99. I'm sure the bad blood is over with JJ and Mcmahon now but I guess it was still fresh in Vince's mind back then that a non draw like Jarrett would hold him up for that kind of money before bouncing

I think it's been reported JJ and Vince squashed their beef when JJ's wife passed away. That said JJ has always sucked and you know you suck that the only thing you will be remembered for during your career is holding Vince hostage, nothing in his body of work will be remembered.

well double j does have that classic Ic title match with hbk at one of the early in your house ppvs..but its never really mentioned like that

HBK gave him his only WWE classic match

Roaddog gave him his only classic theme music

Mae Young gave him his only classic WWE moment

He's made for WCW/TNA type promotions :manny:

MMA/Daddy/Mexicano Jeff was pure entertainment but nobody has ever bought tickets to see Jeff Jarrett...

He was the best by default during some of WCW's last years, but I agree he's a non-draw. As far as promos and wrestling goes, I think he's good but not great. I was a big fan of his in the early '90s when he was in USWA.

As long as he's not in the main events and holding world titles, I don't mind him being around. His MMA run in TNA was gold. His JJJ run, on the other hand, in the early years of TNA, was absolutely terrible and probably did more to hurt the company than help it. If you're trying to start up a new promotion, you don't put a guy on top who was one of the poster boys for the company that just went out of business.

Vince McMahon fires Jeff Jarrett - Raw: March 26, 2001 - YouTube

From the way I heard it, holding them up is a slight misnomer, if technically accurate. It wasn't that he wanted more money, it was that he wanted his pay-per-view bonus money (which, if I remember correctly, is paid out 3 months after the pay-per-view in question) up front. He didn't want to have to screw around with the WWF office after he left, so he gave him the ultimatum (also, Jarrett LOATHED working with Chyna).

The reason that I say Jarrett holding them up is a "slight misnomer" rather than "inaccurate" is because there's a story involving a handshake deal with Jim Ross (Head of Talent Relations at the time), reneging on a handshake deal, and Jarrett doubling his price as a result that I've seen, but been unable to really confirm.

I'm not mad at Jarrett trying to get his bonus money up front before leaving, we know how Vince can be with payoffs. :manny:
