Night City was the GOAT futuristic capitalist hellhole

I remember Omega from Mass Effect 2 being pretty grimey Samara had a dope ass loyalty mission there that played out like a gritty sci fi detective story

But as a kid I felt the slums of Midgar were dirty AF.

Was also the first game i played that kinda touched on systemic inequalities and abuse of power/resources.

Liberty city in gta 4 was grimy af.

Midgar probably wins by default because it’s basically a cyberpunk refugee camp.

The cities in max payne were pretty fukked up.

Hong Kong in Sleeping dogs had a lady chopping people up and serving them as food in her dirty ass Resturant.

I don't think I've played a game where I stepped into a city that felt as grimy as Zozo.

From the music, to the their being random enemies and bad guys inside the town walls. On top of that, it was constantly raining, everyone lied to you when you spoke with them and the enemies in the city all hit hard and stole your money.


I think that was the only town in gaming where I was like nah get me out of here nothing but thugs and liars.
