Now, if you don't think it matters whether people think you're relevant or not, then this thread ain't for you. When I look at people like Plies (My Rock) or Juicy J. Is it just chance? Or do you see a pattern where rapper like these can get radio play. Is it the co-sign from younger rappers? Does region play a part (like a old rapper from the East (i.e. Fat Joe) looks different then old rapper from the South (2 Chainz). Or is that irrelevant? Now, I'm excluding Jay Z because he's another level. I'm talking regular older rapper.

networking, connections and making decent music

i'll use juicy j as an example, he was already well respected but came back and re branded himself , connected with lex luger at the time and co signed a few up n coming people like wiz, and then made good music , no doubt he still had connections from all the years of being in the game but he also networked even more with newer people in the scene

Multiple things. Your catalog needs to have quality content and/or you needed to have developed a real cult following early on. From there gotta keep connecting with the youth, even better if you can develop the new talent yourself.

Btw I wouldn't consider 2 chainz an "old artist". He's older in age but he didn't pop until he was past 30. That's not really the same as a Fat Joe, Juicy j.

Fat joe and Plies really just kept making hits.

2chainz isn't an older artist.

Juicy J came back for that short stint by riding Wiz's wave. He got introduced to a whole new group of fans and his music still sounded fresh

Fat Joe did it by having hot hooks from the current hot rappers

There is know secret everyone you come up with are outliers and exceptions to the rule
