name an album that couldn't have been spawned from anywhere else but new york.

I'd say illmatic. from the train sound, wild-style opening to NY state of mind, then ending with a song like it ain't hard to tell. you could almost see the graffiti and smell the smoke. that shyt was a celebration of gritty new york through and through

I'll let people from new york decide over my opinion, but nothing says new york to me like the infamous.

I imagine though, that specific records represent specific boroughs best though.
