What's the importance of working out one or two certain body parts a day?

Like Monday is tris Tuesday is back and etc.. I ask that because I'm getting back in the gym soon and I'm trying to go all out and take this serious..

When I use to go to the gym I just basically started off either hooping or cardio then I'll hit the weights for like two hours, but I'll just do a lot of different machines and body parts. Basically working out every part of my body in one day..

Is there anything wrong with this? Or should I just concentrate on specific body parts for specific days?

Yea, full body or upper/lower days are much better IMO. I have personally seen it myself, and know a lot of people way stronger than me who swear by it too. I personally prefer upper/lower because I hit legs like a ton of bricks so there's nothing left for anything else afterwards. But that is individual preference. In any case only hitting body parts once a week or even just twice is kind of no bueno. Leaving gains on the table.

Most common i see is
Chest/Triceps
Back/biceps
Legs/Shoulders (or you can do these on separate days)

When you hit chest you are also hitting triceps. Back also hits the biceps which is why they are usually paired together

Honestly it depends what you can do imo. Because of school I can only get to the gym on Mondays Wednesday's & Friday's. So it only makes sense to me to do a high volume p/p/l.

However if you can lift 4 times per week like everybody has mentioned, upper/lower is superior since you are hitting everything twice a week.

You can even do a full body routine 3 times a week but that is a hard routine to progress on.

Honestly just focus on the main compounds & you should be good.

What ya split look like? Sets and exercises as well.

Always wanted to try it but just seemed working full upper body would cause me to be in the gym all day.

Right now I'm only hitting one body part per week, and I can't complain, but I wanna try this split routine.

I have tried many different things over the years and best bet is to try things out and see what works for you. I have noticed more people doing same body parts more than once a week these days with no harm. A few years ago people would swear by training each body part once a week, which is fine if you go to absolute failure and need the time to recover but you can get by with doing each muscle twice a week.

For upper body what I did that work was 1 horizontal pushing (bench) 1 vertical pulling (pull-ups) 1 vertical pushing (ohp) 1 horizontal pull (bent rows). Then I added weighted dips & farmers carries to get some extra work. Also you can superset the opposing muscles with stuff like chin ups, push ups & db rows for example.

One thing that did suck for me at least was the one day I had to squat & deadlift heavy.

But it's def worth a try if you got time for it.

Big thing for me is supersets. And I go bro so I'm pretty light on compounds.

Upper days look like this:
Warmup- 3-5 minutes
Push/pull compound- 3 supersets on Tues/Thurs, 5 supersets on Saturday- ~12-18 minutes
Arms (curls/pushdowns)- 5 supersets every day- ~12 minutes
Shoulders/abs - 5 supersets everyday- ~ 12 minutes
With moving between supersets it's like 40-60 minutes altogether

Then lower days are
3x5 squats, then 3x5 sumo deads on Wednesday
5x10 squats, 5x10 RDLs on Sunday

Gains are :leon: though my knees have been bothering me. But I have been on this upper/lower shyt for years and seen good gains from it. Def recommend it.

See that just don't look like it's enough work being done, not saying it doesn't work tho,I knew a guy at the first gym I went to,was an ex boxer and he did full body workouts 3 times a week and was built so I know it does,I'm just tryna figure out how.

Do you switch up heavy and light? What are the exact exercises you do for your push/pull days?
