Been thinking bout getting into it a lot lately. I've been told it keeps you alot leaner as opposed to lifting weights.

It doesnt keep you leaner. There are just a lot of lean people who do calisthetics so that's the image that's associated with it.

I don't think it's a bad idea for the upper body, but I don't think you can develop beefy legs... especially hamstrings/glutes... with just calisthetics. But getting lean is all diet/cardio. I do like the idea of doing nothing but dips/chins/lateral raises for general fitness though. Once I'm old and gray I think that will be my routine.

Well it’s definitely the most misspelled word in this section.

Anyway, with calisthenics you can’t get away with just going through the motions like you can with weights. You shouldn’t just crank out reps. Control every inch of the movement and you’ll see why it’s effective. Don’t think in terms of just completing the set. Make each rep count. 3 seconds up 3 seconds down

I lost about 25-30 lbs simply from calisthenics exercises I adopted off of YouTube. I just started heavily at the gym 2 months ago yet my physique is comparable to some of the best in there due to my training I've been doing for the past year at home. It's a grind when you're first starting but once you master each exercise the sky is the limit in terms of combining and pushing yourself

Above the fray.

ABSOLUTELY.....just purchase a weight vest and gradually add weights.

If you can't get weight vest or weights....get a hiking backpack.and find things to add weight to it.

get a book or go online and look for multiple exercises for every body part and you're good money

Calisthenics > Weight lifting

I've lifted and trained off and on for over 20 years......past 5 years did nothing but calisthenics.......no free weights/no machines
