What's the best resource for claiming expenses on taxes when self-employed?

You could always hire a good accountant to manage all of this for you. I don't see how reading a bunch of pages on the internet would help since tax laws are immensely complex (to the point that very few people actually understand it).

I visited a Yelp recommended CPA and he mentioned I should get my possible expenses (such as claiming something like 50% of my cell phone bill) all written down neatly before I go visit him again.
