What's the bare minimum I need to lay quality vocals at the shack?

I had a USB mic that I loved but I hear about pre amps and other equiptment. I would really like to plug and play with just the USB mic (gotta cop a new one).

A mic and a laptop. You can make a booth out of old mattresses and a pop filter out of pantyhose

you can set your mic up in front of an open closet with clothes in it. get or make a pop filter in front, closet behind it.
