I would like to gather some items for my first week of dieting.
I barely spend any time at the vegetable or fruit section. Which are your favorites.?
What do you think I should get, starting out?

I think it's more important to establish your eating schedule and calorie goals. Getting more veggies in is good, but you have to have a plan. Other thing with veggies is prep time.... if you have a lot of time and enjoy cooking it's no problem, but if you're busy or not a fan of cooking you're gonna overcommit and fall off. Set yourself up for success

When I was dieting I lived on these:

Quick, cheap, easy, healthy. I'd have half of one with 1 or 2 breaded chicken breasts. Good ~600kcal meal that held me down for a pre-workout or for my last meal before bed.

I'm heavy on beans and lentils now a days. Good protein, fiber and not to heavy on the carbs. Very filling as well.

Soak them over night and throw it into a crockpot with some ground turkey, tomato sauce, chicken broth, mirepoix and spices and seasonings and boom, you got your self some good chilli that can double as a stee of sorts.
