I know we appreciate a lot of stuff in the film room, a lot of 90s stuff, a lot of sitcoms, and a lot of movies, but I wanted to give some love to possibly my 2nd favorite TV show of all time, The West Wing. The show just celebrated its 15th anniversary and while reading this awesome feature on Empire, I decided it was time to show some love.
I know not everyone here is a Sorkin lover ( I am) but love for him aside, the show has an awesome cast from top to bottom, Martin Sheen plays possibly the greatest president ever and definitely what we would all want our president to be like, it has one of the best written African American characters written in Charlie, and season 7 was damn near prophetic as Jimmy Smits' Santos faced off against Alan Alda's Vinick for the presidency and the similarities of that fictional presidential race to the real 2008 presidential race are eerie as fukk. While season 5 and 6 aren't always up to par with the shows best material, season 7 is a home run in my eyes but still not as great as the first four seasons of the show.
This is without doubt my favorite episode of the show, Two Cathedrals, and this speech is one of my favorite speeches in the history of TV because it hits home based on some personal shyt I've dealt with. Hopefully I'm not the only one who loves this show
