Exactly what the goddamn thread title says.

But when it being a few weeks since the Skeleton Key has dropped where do you place it when you rank his discog.

Overall what do you consider his Magnum Opus?

I seen some say Reloaded, Marc Berg and EMB

I'm gonna run the risk of getting negged.

Reloaded is one of my favorite rap albums across the board, hands down.

That's his magum opus, and it feels like a fluke/one shot deal. I don't connect with most of his shyt beyond that even though I will always check for him just for the slick talk.

Really? I feel like it's more common to see Reloaded held in a higher regard.

76, We Ill, Death Parade all had me :mindblown: first several times I heard them. I think I played 76 back to back to back like 15x. Flash Gordon, Emeralds...just too many classics on there

For me it's really hard to pic...top to bottom it's probably Reloaded but there are others that are close IMO

i agree :yeshrug: Roc is a one trick pony, and it isn't enough to carry a whole discography

when he's at his peak, he's one of the nicest rappers ever. the style on Reloaded was crazy, one of the most unique albums ever. but i keep listening to these new albums, wanting to like them, and i just come away like :unimpressed: whatever the reason, these last few projects just don't do it for me

It gets hard to rank them after my top or 6, so I'll just throw those out.

- Reloaded
- Marcberg
- Elephant Man's Bones
- Behold a Dark Horse
- Marcielago
- Rosebudd's Revenge 2

Dark Horse and Elephant Man might switch positions on any given day

I think the part that he's saying runs the risk of getting negged is that he doesn't like most of Roc's stuff after Reloaded

Marcberg. The original and best.
Marcberg is the OG and I have it at #2, but I can't help but feel like Reloaded is him perfecting the craft of what he did on Marcberg. Marcberg is a little more straight boom bap in more places, and Roc's voice and flow are a little bit rougher as well. Marcberg sounds a little more like a 90's throwback album to me on production as well. Sometimes that's what I'm in the mood to here, but Reloaded is where he really got deeper into the experimental production bag, and he smoothed his voice and flow out a little bit more on there.

I'll say this too. I always wondered if Panic had any influence on Numbers on the Board

You right...I didn't even clearly read that part before I commented :russ:

IMO Roc has gotten better, more versatile, more innovative, etc. Even if the individual projects aren't as strong as Reloaded. Same as how Wu became more versatile, innovative, better MCs etc. on Forever, but 36 Chambers is the superior album.

I was listening to Marciology last night and it's an incredible album.

No doubt.

I think he's more skilled as a rapper and as a producer, but sometimes it's more experimental or intricate, and sometimes I appreciate the more simple and straightforward style he used to do. I really like Dark Horse because I thought it sounded like a bit of a throwback to the Reloaded era, and he brought Q-Tip back on production as well.
