So I currently don't have any monitors but I have some studio quality headphones that my homie stole from daddy house studios when he interned there back in the dayz

is that good enough to mix with or do I need some monitors?

Monitors Are preferred over headphones but you can get a decent Mix out of either one

Nice flat monitors in a acoustically treated room is preferable generally. However someone recently won a mix contest judged but some pretty phenomenal Grammy award winning
Engineers and he used headphones only. So it's definitely possible to get great results with the right headphones and understanding of mixing principles.

Monitors is the way to go, but when you're almost done with a project you should also hear it on many different systems, headphones, car audios...Young Guru was tellin' stories about how they make 5 renders on a project with Jay-Z for every musical platform - tv, radio, clubs etc...So Jay was goin' off on vacation and he had the engineers fix things again and again, so they had to render 5 times for just one single thing changed hahaha!
