i have that same Milwaukee drill/driver combo - it was a good deal at home depot. i don't have a lot right now. my dad has a lot of tools since he is in his late 60's :flabbynsick: so if i don't have something i usually borrow it from him. when i bought a house i asked other homeowners IRL what was most important to get and they all said to get a cordless drill/driver.

i would say:

1) drill/driver with charger + set of bits
2) crowbar/prybar (they make hammer combos too which are sick)
3) hacksaw (need to buy one :lolbron: )
4) utility knife
5) ratchet set

from everything i've read you can basically get everything you need for under $200. i still need to plant a lawn in a few weeks and then i'll be buying a pushmower since my yard is only 20'x30'.

my girl's dad gave me a sick ladder for christmas too. only used it twice so far but it's pretty great. it's a TITAN. don't know anything about it but it's one of the best ones i have ever used.

Bookmark slickdeals, people are always posting good deals on tools. You can have a mean tool game in a year for half the price. Even if it's something you don't need right away, if it's 40-50% off and you can afford it, jump on it.

I will check out slickdeals @aXiom. I used to cop most of my tools from estate sales but when I lend them out they never seem to return. A power washer is also handy for the home/auto. Got one for 50 at an estate sale as well.

Don't have pics, but as a shadetree mechanic, I've got thousands of dollars in tools

60 gallon air compressor
Countless air tools (ratchet, guns, etc.)
Countless sockets (triple star, allen, various sizes)
Hammers of various sizes
Specialty VW/Audi tools
Screwdrivers of all types
Crowbars and breaker bars

The list is practically endless
