I can vouch for that. In the early and mid 90s, the complaints about mainstream hip hop getting too commercial and the underground hip hop being forgotten was always talked about.
People criticized Nas about that big time when he went from illmatic to IWW
It's funny how alot of slogans are actually just recycled when some people are just hearing it for the first time.
All the talk you see today about "black on black crime"
"police brutality", "fatherless homes and single moms", "support black businesses" etc etc have been talked about forever...I remember hearing all those things in the 80s and 90s.
they seem to disappear for a few years and then resurface and become a topic of conversation when something traumatic happens

let the people decide the direction of hiphop,but especially about the school that creates better hiphop producers.....we in 2017 and nikkas from the 60's and 70's,80's AND 90's who had less access to instruments,less access to studio equipment were all more advanced then us....i know alot of that goes with funding in shcool music programs,but you would think hiphop artist would invest in creating a more advanced musical sound to advance the artform.....nikkas still gotta sample old shyt from 40 years ago cuz they cant make it themselves

Also there are literally schools for audio engineering and music production today.
The focus on maintaining the integrity and authenticity of the music.
