i get paid for 8 hours 7-3:15pm. today i got sent to work with the company hero who is known for working past work time and working through lunch breaks to be a hero and make himself look good. he is not a bad dude personally but his work habits suck and ive learned that about him working with him a few times. i do construction

i got sent out 50 miles from my home to work with him at a hospital. 3:15 rolls around and im like dude lets go and he wont budge....he told me if we didnt finish my boss would be pissed when i told him that someone is coming back to finish im not doing work for free. i told him we are 50 miles out and im not fukking around lets go

i just left his ass there at 3:15 and left....he probably stayed at least another 30 minutes and i doubt he will call in the time.

why do people want to be heros? should i have stayed or was i right sticking to my union mandated time? i wasnt going to get OT out of it. i dont give these fukkers anything

why would you work for free? and why would you even question that? unions exist exactly so you dont have to do shyt like that.

nah unions are the way to go. non union construction tends to be bad in most cases. you get no benefits, treated like shyt etc.

theres not many lazy bums in the trades if you dont put up they will get rid of you. im not sure how other industries unions are though

Well good for you but some just want in on a union because they have no ambition. Im not saying it isnt good work but paying to subsidize that is wrong

So you left a man stranded because he wanted to do a complete job?

You couldn't have waited around and smoked a cig or gotten an ice cream sammich from a vending machine or something? You couldn't have waited 30 mins breh?

If bad times presented themselves and the company started making layoffs, bet he wouldn't be 1st round chopping block.
he usually works all the time the company likes him. we are all gonna be dead one day and nothing we do matters so i just go with the motions. im an extremely hard worker but i know when to draw the line this guy does this all the time

someone has to go back to the job 50 MILES away anyway to finish it completely they can just do it then. after 3:15 i dont get paid and he basically wanted to work for 30 minutes for free doing labor because he wanted to shine. he is notorious for this alot of guys dont like him for it
