What would it really take for TNA to become a legit threat?

Serious question. Is it simply money? So if one of these billionaire sports owners decided to buy TNA, would that turn the tide? or is something else?

IMO, outside of a select stretch of months like Rock's run this past year, CM Punk's month of excellence last summer and the D.Bryan surge, and Brock's 3-week run, TNA has been putting out a better product as a whole, for a while now, especially recently with Raw seemingly reaching 1995 levels of horribleness :snoop:

Call me crazy, but i'm looking forward to tomorrow's IMPACT live Open Fight Night more than ANY RAW this year that has not featured Rock or Brock.

If TNA just had nothing but wrestling matches and eliminated: all backstage segments, useless promos, Dixie Carter, all useless old wrestlers, stupid DQ finishes, pushing WWE rejects and trying to be like the WWE then TNA could become a legit threat. Basically TNA needs to do what Paul Heyman said he did with ECW during it's heyday "hide the negatives... push the positives"

So you are basically saying that you hate Sting and Bully Ray?:o: and i think the backstage promos are something that they do well. But i do agree with the useless promos and the DQ finishes, i would also add the random half-assed heel/face turns.

Money and the IWC actually supporting the company by watching Impact, buying the PPVs and their merchandise.

Until the brainwashed contingent of wrestling fan gets out of the mindset that WWE=Good and TNA=Bad then nothing will change on the IWC front.
All TNA can do is try to put out a consistently quality product while taking steps to increase their brand exposure to the general public so that they can be perceived as an alternative to WWE.

Sting... yeah I can do without him. Bully Ray I must admit he's grown on me since the Team 3D breakup so he can stay and flex his calves:hula:

Ironically, I think they would need the WWE to be more successful to become a threat. I just don't think there are a significant amount of people whose first introduction to pro wrestling is TNA. If the WWE can get people interested in wrestling like it was 1999, then the wrestling audience increases. The wrestling audience increases, then there would be people who would check out other feds like TNA and then it would be up to TNA to have a product that would be good enough for this new audience to accept.

Complex storylines/angles seen on dramas such as The Wire, Law and Order, Breaking Bad, NCIS, etc. :shaq:

Id love to see a Gustavo like character in wrestling. It would take way too much buildup that's easy to screw up though

Nothing, The E is slowly but surely doing themselves in inch by inch (no homo).

I don't think that'll happen with them. They still have the little kid and 30 year old virgin demographic

All you need in my opinion is to make your product look so serious and realistic like a well-pull together TV drama it could have people thinking :ohhh: this looking real and piff to be a actual wrestling show. That and make the PPV look in more a sports presentation like HBO Boxing or NFL On CBS/Sunday Night Football.

They seem to be getting to that now and I think they way they built up Bobby Roode seems to reinforce that that is their plan. Last weeks opening proves this. After they do this the need to get the hell out of Orlando.

But gotta be smart about traveling to different cities, I say this how they should tape Impacts on the road, each month they should tape is a particular region in the country for example

June- NYC metro
July- Chicago/Milwaukee
August- Florida
September- Texas
October- Ontario/Quebec

Not the best plan, but you can establish bigger fanbases in those areas by having more people go to shows and being aware of the TNA product
