The Atlantic Slave Trade was perpetrated by Africans, and Arabs as well as Europeans. This makes it impossible to cast Europeans as THE villian. Basically, whoever could profit from it was drawn in. Money is kind of the boogeyman here.
Old school Imperialism is one thing, but in 2014 we are facing an economic Imperialism that is so enticing that the subjects sign up for it. The Imperial powers will bring war to those who resist but for every war there are 5473 "leaders" who get with the Imperial program. We jumped on Iraq and Afghanistan and the Arab Spring developed seemingly spontaneously. A string of new democracies ready to participate in the Global Economy. Almost sounds like a good investment from a purely economic standpoint. In essence: the raw material is harnessed by totally destitute people in "developing" countries and processed by Imperial powers.. And sold back to the workers in the countries where the raw material was extracted.
Although the Imperial powers will use any means to promote their enterprises, the will absolutely use violence when it is the most cost effective option. Including motherfukcing nuclear bombs if that's what it would take. This point is critical.
It seems like it would be impossible to unseat them at this point. Laws only apply to those UNDER THE THUMB of the Imperialists. One with power over you can enforce a law on you. You can only beg them to obey their own law.
