I’ve heard late 1984 widely mentioned as the time period when crack first hit major cities in large amounts. For those of you alive back then, did the holidays make the shift more noticeable? Did people start distancing themselves from relatives who were suddenly becoming addicts and stop inviting them to family gatherings? Was there a noticeable increase in stealing and people selling stolen goods?
