What was it like watching the attitude era as it was it happening?

ATL paid.. Cali blazed
I would gather my wrestling ring and all tha wrestlers and have em fight before, during a commercial and after the show.. Go to school and act out fights on Tuesday.. shyt was amazing couldn't nobody tell me it was fake.. And everybody had somebody to root for.. I was young when Jhon Cena came into the picture I noticed tha change and that's tha last time I watched.. But coming from WCW to Raw in 98 was night and day

I was around 12-15 at the time.

The biggest thing was that it was just really cool in terms of pop culture appeal. Before, wrestling was a bit of this niche, hush hush thing you were into. Suddenly, even the popular guys/gals were into it. It just felt very hip in terms of where pop culture was at the time.

When a house show came to my dinky town, practically my entire school went. Crowd was amped. Kids were doing the DX chops etc. Even at a Raw taping in 97 , the crowd was insanely hot. Tons of midcard guys were getting pops that top guys today would kill for.

I always found out funny how Vince was trying to pretend kids weren't watching, that it was all 18-35 year olds.

I would call my breh during the commercials and talk about was going on :whoo:

then you had the whole week from Monday back to Monday to speculate and think about what was gonna happen

even the dudes in opening matches on the ppv's got bigger reactions than top guys now

what a time to be alive

Chaotic, wild, must-see, full mainstream appeal and everybody was talking about it at school the night after a Raw, SD, or PPV. And it was talked about so casually like it was some dope movie you just saw. You didn’t have to sneak and damn near be embarrassed talking about it in public like you do now :laff::laff:I have younger relatives that have absolutely zero connection with wrestling. They grew up during Cena’s peak but had turned in their wrestling fandom quickly.
