When I was younger and more religious demonic horror movies would have me shook, now they don’t bother me as much. Though the Exorcist still scares me a bit mainly because the 70s style documentary like way it’s filmed makes it feel more “real” than the stuff that comes out today that rely so heavily on CGI.
But I think now as an adult “body horror” movies scare me the most. Movies where someone is breaking down physically and mentally and there’s nothing they can do to stop it. I think that’s why I consider the Fly from the 80’s the scariest movie I’ve ever seen and I still have trouble watching it.
As for slasher and torture porn movies, sometimes they’ll entertain me and gross me out but I generally don’t find them scary and view them like I’d view an action or thriller movie.
