What the $(*@#$ is going on with Graphic Cards?

My son wants a gaming computer for Christmas.. 5 years ago, I built a top of line desktop that can edit 4k video out my drone and play any game on the highest settings... Couldn't have cost me more than $1000 and most of that was the chip and the graphics card..........

I just tried to build one last night.. Not only are the shyttiest cards STARTING at $400... They are also sold out everywhere and can't be bought for under $800. I looked up the card I bought and it was $309 when I bought it and it's now being sold for $450... nikka how a used card being sold for $150 more than it was worth 5 years ago...

Did I miss something? How can I build this shyt for under 2 g's

You can't. Semiconductor shortage is affecting everything. I got my XSX/PS5 at launch last year and I knew I was lucky. I got a PC with an Nvidia 3060Ti in it, that was hitting the lotto.

As for building a rig for under $2k I can't help you. Mine is at least $3k.

I explained what I meant by that. I use mine desktop for editing high grade video.... built it in 2017 and my benchmark today for desktops is still in the 97%.. Only thing that fell off was the card and it's still at 60%

I just bought the new one. The OG one was 175

I don’t know where y’all are getting parts but nah breh. I still have my receipts for everything. Only thing I’m not including is the monitors.

Card was 300, chip was 400 or so. Case 100, motherboard around the same. Ram was like 150. Hard drive. Power unit. Maybe I paid 1100-1200. Max.

As I said… shyt was considerably cheaper then

i bought a prebuilt and added the stuff i wanted to it.
i got 1100 into mine currently and i bought a hp ryzen 3 raedon for like 600 from walmart


runs battlefield apex and high end games good suprisingly.no fps drops.
id reccomend it to anyone looking for a pc.

good place to start imo.
