What should I be looking out for on food labels while trying to eat healthier?

I've changed a lot of my eating habits and know for a fact I'm eating healthier but that may bot necessarily mean healthy.

For the most part I eat: tuna ,tilapia, shrimp, grilled chicken breast, turkey burgers/bacon/sandwiches/ground turkey.

This nigggga told me I need to stay away from bread :dwillhuh: I usually eat boiled eggs, turkey bacon and honey wheat toast for breakfast. I might have a turkey sandwich or burger during the day. Is 4 slices a bread too much?

I just looked at the cranberry juice

I drink from time to time and it has 51grams of sugar.

What should be I on the look out for.

Your diet sounds pretty healthy. Main things to look out for are sodium, saturated fats and sugars (to avoid) and protein and fibers (to get as much as possible of). I try to keep my sugar intake under 100g/day.
Preciate the info. I think 100g of sugar is impossible for me. What about the intake of sodium and saturated fats.

What about my peanut butter crackers/sandwiches?

Just keep everything under 100%. You can do under 100g of sugar easy. Just gotta get used to eating for calories instead of for taste for 1-2 meals a day. And drinking more water and less juice. I like to get a pitcher of water (about a gallon) and just juice a whole lemon into it. Nice subtle taste and a good switch up from plain water.

Sounds like you eating some good clean meats, I'm a believer that society as a whole eats too much of it, especially depends on your ancestry, indians have been against eating beef for thousands of years but some younger people down it like nothing, can't be too good lol

I'd just balance the meat intake with raw vegetables/fruits
Watch out for synthetic ingredients, eat less processed, if you going to drink juices Ocean Spray is ass. Get some Simply Orange or something that is actual juice, never concentrated is always better.

As a man, zinc, iron, biotin are all good for a healthy reproductive system

I agree about ocean spray. I just drink it from time to time tho. These are the juices I fukk with all the time http://www.thecouponingcouple.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/tropicana_farmstand_juice.jpg those and Tropicana OJ. Gatorade too.

I drank one of these after my workouts to http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/hpc/detail-page/c26-B000G719EI-1-l.jpg :whew: 34g of protein.

So should I cut back on the following: Oatmeal, grits, mashed potatoes

Damn breh, what's that made of if it's not milk? :patrice:

If you're really active and get enough fluids that much starch isn't as bad, but make sure you get plenty liquids. Starch pretty much dehydrates the organs, takes a lot of fluid to properly digest.
Milk nutrients :patrice:

Post up meal plans.

A lot depends on your goals. If you kinda chubby, that's fine. If you wanna really get lean, unless you super active that's too carby.

This. A lot of food out there is jam packed with salt and sodium...saturated fats is another thing to watch out for. Basically, eat fresh food. Stay away from processed food (frozen dinners, cold cuts, sausages, etc). Try to cut out bread completely if you can. If not, make sure it's whole grain. Cut down on red meat and eat more chicken breast, wild fish. A lot of fresh vegetables and fruit. No juice. I cut out juice just to see if I could do it and haven't had anything other than water in 5 months. You get used to it.

When you start reading labels and paying attention to what you put in your body, you'll really not want to eat a lot of the stuff out there.

Breakfast I'll eat something like 2-3 boiled eggs. 3 slices of turkey bacon 2 pieces of honey wheat toast, no butter or syrup :sadcam: Prolly some light yogurt too

Workout and then a muscle milk.

Lunch will be something like a turkey burger and baby carrots. Prolly a gatorade.

eat some almonds throughout the day

Dinner: Chicken Breast, steamed broccoli, corn on the cob

If those are my meals for the day. I'll still be hungry at night but I'll eat some sleep or pour me a bowl of cereal. Of course I dont eat that everyday but that's pretty typical to how I construct my diet.

I'm 6' 185-192 (last time I hit the scale was 192 but I had on a suit) I'm tryna get these cuts for the summer tho.

Got some Lacoste tanks Im tryna show off in :patrice:

Red meats are pretty non existent to me right now. I challenge myself to see if I could do without and I haven't ate or had a craving for it. I ain't out the read meat game but it's prolly been 2 months :manny: (take that back, had some chop beef sandwiches one night after the club; one of my boys came in town on some http://www.thecoli.com/threads/the-...festyle-is-having-flabbynsick-friends.214734/ shyt)

Juices, I COULD give up but honestly, I just don't want to. I gave up sodas a long time ago and never looked back. Sometimes I'll try drinking one for the hell of it and it burns worse than liquor. :smh:

Bread will be hard for me to give up to because I eat turkey burgers/and sandwiches (niggga love sammiches like Brotha Man)

Preciate the post. I'll definitely start paying attention to salts (with the exception of tony chachere's) sodium and saturated fats :salute:

So you still pretty soft.

If you still losing weight that's cool. Eventually you'll probably have to swap the milk for a normal powder whey protein - drop the Gatorade's. But it's a process.

Just count calories and your macros.

:pachaha: I'll slap you.

I got a case of gatorades so once they last 5 are gone I'll be done with em. Straight water for ya boy. I ain't tryna put on or lose weight. Just maintain and cut up a lil bit.

And what is macros?
