I feel like the majority of the stuff Hanna-Barbera produced has always been disposable. The only worthwhile stuff I can think of off the top of my head that came from them was Tom and Jerry, the Flintstones, and Scooby-Doo.

Video says as much. Mostly mass produced trash. As a kid that cheat animation stuff always was obvious and a turnoff.

Yup. When I think of Hanna-Barbera, I usually think of that dark period in U.S. animation in the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s where limited animation was the standard, those godawful Super Friends shows, and the shameless Scooby-Doo rip-offs (Speed Buggy, Jabberjaw…).

To be fair, Hanna-Barbera wasn’t all bad. If I had given it more thought, I’d have remembered that I really used to love watching Wacky Races. And that you also have to credit H-B with some of the late ‘90s Cartoon Network shows like Dexter’s Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, the Powerpuff Girls, and the What a Cartoon! Show that they all spawned from. And even if I’m not a huge fan of the shows themselves, H-B created some memorable cartoon characters: Yogi Bear, Johnny Quest, Huckleberry Hound, dikk Dastardly, etc.

But when you look at the full body of work, I think the point still stands. There were some good ideas, sure, but also a lot of lazy rehashes, rip-offs, and terrible animation as well. And I think the latter outweighed the former.

Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera did, yes, back when they were working under MGM in the '40s and '50s. If you see a T&J cartoon that begins with this:

latest

Then it's one of the original ones that they produced.

:ohhh:I was JUST watching this at like 1 am. But it’s interesting how they came up and dominated the Saturday morning line up and came up with their own blueprint using similarly drawn characters & looping the backgrounds. They even had the shows concept down to a science once Scooby Doo happened.

A group of teens and an animal and they all solve mysteries. :russ::russ::mjlol:

It’s messed up GI Joe and Care Bears and the marketing shows is what killed it...

Oh and the ‘kid’ spin-off era. Shout out to A Pup Named Scooby Doo getting love.

I never knew Yogi had one. That shyt looks like some coked up thought up bullshyt. I’ve never seen it in syndication on Cartoon Network.

Looking at Boo Boo it’s familiar... but... yeah it don’t stand out like the others. Even that random scooby doo show knock off show they mentioned I had never heard of. And I’m really confused why is Dastardly & Mutley there when they were Wacky Racers?? But I guess the same goes for Snagglepuss and Huckleberry Hound; Yogi spin-off can’t work with him, Boo Boo, Cindy, & the Ranger.
