I see this being thrown around a lot, very casually, and quite frankly i don't get what you're on about it. Maybe its cause i don't fukk with TV, but I have never seen anything that truly glamorizes homosexuality in and of itself. Maybe aspects of the culture in fashion or art, but when it comes down to the behavior, never.

So what are you guys watching where you're so afraid of homosexuality seeping into everything? Or are you just using the words like "promoting homosexuality" as a replacement for simply "tolerating it"?

Charlotte by way of Chucktown What
TV Programming as a whole isn't progressively "promoting homosexuality" but there is a sizable amount of shows that portray homosexuals in a pretty direct way.

Reality shows (The Real World, Real Housewives shows, etc.)
Sitcoms (Modern Family, Glee, etc.)
Cooking shows (Top Chef, Food Network has tons of chefs who are openly gay)

Hell even channels like Bravo, E!, and to a certain degree MTV has shifted to programming that is more openly expressive of homosexuality.

Just a sign of the times, I suppose.

People think there is a significant number of Gay people in this nation... when in reality its a few percentage of the population.
"pollsters at Gallup found that members of the American public massively overestimated how many people are gay or lesbian"

In reality, anything that doesn't follow along with the 'norm' of how we are developed or goes against the nature of our species or the continuing of our species... is going to be a defect or result of conditioning.

“TV and movie representation matters,” said Edward Schiappa, a professor of communication studies at the University of Minnesota. In five separate studies, Mr. Schiappa and his colleagues have found that the presence of gay characters on television programs decreases prejudices among viewers of the programs. “These attitude changes are not huge — they don’t change bigots into saints. But they can snowball,” Mr. Schiappa said.

Mr. Biden apparently agrees. He said on Sunday that “Will & Grace,” which ran from 1998 to 2006, “probably did more to educate the American public than almost anything anybody’s ever done so far.”

If you look at every magazine, TV Show, article, Movie, etc.. and replace the word "educate" with promotion then you will end up..:scusthov:

Television is not "promoting homosexuality". It's just not excluding them.

"GLAAD works with media to insert “LGBT images and stories” into popular culture through every means possible. From movies to comics, blogs and newspaper columns, TV shows and artists, every year GLAAD acclaims the most “outstanding images of the LGBT community” in their Media Awards."

There are Americans who think Romney had something to do with the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

"Promote" suggests that there is some overt plot of some sort to turn people gay through the media when really the goal is to allow a minority it's fair of representation in society through a medium that is highly utilized by the populace.

nikkas just don't get it...IF YOU'RE GAY YOU'RE GAY.

Watching gay people on TV or in movies won't make you gay or make your kids gay. If your kid is gay, he was born gay. It's not your fault, it just is what it is.

If your dikk gets hard watching some gay shyt you are either easily excitable or a homosexual. Seek help dealing with these feelings and move on.

The better question to ask is why people feel the need to make a spectacle out of gay representation and images every time they even feel that it comes up, as if its some subversive element which endangers the very purity of a correct, sealed-off culture to the extent that it's an imperative that it must be stomped out and made to disappear in our eyes.

Honestly, some of you guys sound like old white men, using the same types of rhetorical strategies and philosophical influences that they used to attempt to prevent Blacks from fully representing themselves to prevent gays from fully representing themselves.

But then again, Blacks prevent Blacks from fully representing themselves in the same way for very specific reasons, and attempt to mitigate other people's contact with and place in the history of the development of their cultures and ideas for those same reasons, so its not surprising that we do it with gays as well.
