What is known about the #AYERCUT of Suicide Squad??

TBF, i wouldn't say i'm overly enthused about the movement..i didn't care for the villain choice.. but let's discuss...You probably are aware at least partially of the story. WB executives at the time chopped up David Ayer's Suicide Squad basically they hired people who cut trailers who've never directed a movie before to edit the final cut. We end up getting weird lighting effects and musical choices and a different tone maybe? it's been rumored that a lot of Leto's Joker was removed among other things.

Watch the comic con trailer below.. David Ayer is a very street level/raw/gritty style cops and robbers type of director.. This trailer appears to match that tone and style for better or worse.. that's up for you to decide. Obviously that wasn't what the final product was.

Other than what i laid out i don't know much else about what it was supposed to be.

Knowing this now I totally see why The Joker looked like a Mexican cholo

One of the main things I know they cut was jokers abusiveness he was supposed to be HOH but the theatrical cut turned him into a lovesick puppy

Supposedly it was MUCH darker and more in tune with the first comic con teaser. All that silly shyt they added and the intros set to pop music interludes were added after Guardians Of The Galaxy did big numbers and WB wanted to shark bite it.


According to Ayers there was MUCH more of the Joker. I think Common’s character at the beginning had more screen time and the finale was different

According to David Ayer the joker scene at the end went like this:

"After Joker dropped HQ from the help and crashed, Enchantress made a deal with him. He was going to take Harley home and be “King of Gotham” Harley stood up to him and refused to betray her new friends. The Squad turned on him and he escaped."

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of my favorite comic movies but so many comic book movies trying to run with it's style even in situations where it isn't a fit was a mistake
