Right now in the black diaspora, we're living in integrated societies. Here in my part of London, it's populated heavily with Afro-Caribbeans and Africans as well as arabs, but most businesses are corporate, east Indian, arab or pakistani.

A small section of Brent Borough, called Harlesden is known as a hub for Jamaicans, Barbadians etc but over 70% of the businesses aren't black-owned, and in fact there is one black family grocery store. The biggest provider of food and haircare for black people are indian and pakistani. They don't give back to the community and treat the elderly in a heinous manner.

My question is, what if we decided to network with eachother across the map seen as we go through similar issues, and create a social model to operate under by separating and focusing on self? Could it work? Can we put our differences aside for once and realize the potential we have to wake up, clean up and stand up?

Yeah I think the best way is to cluster in our own communities and support own businesses the same way other groups do. Also we have to look beyond being so price focused. Even if an African American (or Afro-British) business is more expensive, at least they're keeping money in the community.

Yes. I do my best to support whatever little business I can thought it's a little more money.

I was gonna say something along these lines aswell

from the Tariq thread in here you can see black folks are hesitant to give money to black capitalism.

One things for sure, two things for certain. Group economics is the way forward and forward we shall go

My grandma had told me about a partner fund. It's a thing West Indians did around the time when she arrived in England from the Caribbean during the 60s, to help each other afford accommodation. The idea is to put a small amount in collectively, use the money for the intended purpose then we all get what we put in back because there's enough people putting in money.

Could that work?

Yeah I know about that, discussed it extensively with my people.

The conclusion I reached is we didnt have the trust, dedication and maturity for that. Those were different times, alot more unity. I'm talking you would nod your head when you saw a random black man in the street. It still happens now (I suspect)

but to work it has to be built on a foundation of trust and unity. Discuss with your people and see

Can you convince me that trying to keep money in the hands of black people, in the form of shopping and investing in black owned businesses, is better than trying to keep money in the hands of genuinely good people regardless of race? In real life I invest and give my money to people I like, trust, and have good character regardless of race.

Keeping money within the hands of black people will help black business to flourish and provide essentials for their community. If we circulated the money in our community, we can provide jobs for ourselves, open more establishments, contribute to our redevelopment, interact with each other and hopefully rebuild a stable and homely black wall street. I hope that convinces you:troll:

this...I have and will continue to pay a premium for black goods and services if necessary...but usually prices are comparable so it works out

as for overall working together in the diaspora, im for it and have been preaching it for the longest there are some divisions though it's sad...
