Right now in the black diaspora, we're living in integrated societies. Here in my part of London, it's populated heavily with Afro-Caribbeans and Africans as well as arabs, but most businesses are corporate, east Indian, arab or pakistani.
A small section of Brent Borough, called Harlesden is known as a hub for Jamaicans, Barbadians etc but over 70% of the businesses aren't black-owned, and in fact there is one black family grocery store. The biggest provider of food and haircare for black people are indian and pakistani. They don't give back to the community and treat the elderly in a heinous manner.
My question is, what if we decided to network with eachother across the map seen as we go through similar issues, and create a social model to operate under by separating and focusing on self? Could it work? Can we put our differences aside for once and realize the potential we have to wake up, clean up and stand up?
