"The 2020 election must also be remembered for another turnout statistic: 70.9 percent of white voters cast ballots while only 58.4 percent of nonwhite voters did. As the graph below shows, 62.6 percent of Black American voters, 53.7 percent of Latino American voters, and 59.7 percent of Asian American voters cast ballots in 2020."

So to the other 37.4 percent, any tangibles you wanna share with the class?:jbhmm:

ITT I learned black people are the most politically engaged non white ethnic group. Thanks for that information OP. I'd imagine that number was even higher and the gaps were even wider during :obama: years too. It wouldn't surprise me at all if during that 8 year run we were the most politically engaged voting block

Even when we are the most engaged non-white group in the political system and the most altruistic of all groups, someone will find a reason to admonish our people.

Does your hatred of us, perhaps yourself if you are one of us, compel you to do this? Instead of encouraging higher participation by holding up how well we stack against other groups, you focus on the relative minority that is not participating in an attempt to shame and finger-wag.

Absolutely nothing, they get a further far right racist judiciary that will further dismantle their rights and liberties getting them nearer to second class citizen status. Why should racist trump supporters get to set policy in the country and decide which books black children should be allowed to read in the classrooms the idea itself is asinine

It's 8 in the morning and you're making posts like this.

I'm on vacation, so I have an excuse. I can go back to sleep whenever.

Why aren't you at work? And don't say "self-employed," because another democrat dikk drainer used that same excuse with me the other day.

I mean, you gotta ask people individually.

Some people are just involved in life in other ways that really improve the life of others around them.

Just voting is probably the least effective way for YOU to take a hands on approach to your community. But, what you will find is that those who really do wish to make a change beyond basic limitations understand how this system is constructed and designed for democratic processes and most appeal is done thru that style.

In other words, there is no other way for equity to exist unless you consider everyone’s thought.

The only thing I feel like NOT voting or pursuing that path does is isolate one from the rest of everyone. If you definitely don’t feel like participating, it’s because you feel isolated or not really part of the discussion or decision process.

But, fundamentally I don’t disagree with democracy. I just believe that at its core this country won’t shake some of its demons and it makes me reluctant to participate in the democratic experiment occurring in the US.

Even if that 37% of blacks didn't vote..... the 30% of eligible white voters who didn't vote represent a far larger collective of people....and they'll never receive flack for it.

if that 37% of black voters feels their vote does not matter, that means you have a substantial portion of a voting block who's issues are not being met....much less taken seriously by candidates. Candidates are not going to risk alienating white votes in order to get that extra 37% of black votes.

More importantly, trying to shame this collective for whatever perceived shortfalls we have in political power is counter productive.

Above the fray.
Doubt that you'll get a response, as dudes on that side of the issue just repeat YTer takes.
Speaking of which. Past few years, members, who should know better, were repeating YTer babble about "what has voting gotten us?".

Well, conservative officials and organizations are ACTIVELY trying to dismantle the gains that Black people risked their lives, organized, and VOTED in officials for.

If "nothing changed" and "what has voting accomplished?" were real comments, Republicans wouldn't be trying to dial back legislation and policies from the past 60 years.

the black cat is my crown...
i'm told black people have accomplished absolutely nothing by voting.... N O T H I N G .... in fact, the narrative is our lives are worse now because of voting....

if this is true, wouldn't white conservatives want us to vote...? at the very least they wouldn't fear us voting as we'd getting nothing in return... but if it indeed made our lives worse, white conservatives would be trying to drive our turnout instead of trying to prevent it...

there must be a reason white conservatives fear us voting.... :jbhmm:

they don't like us and want the worst for us.... we vote, we end up with the worst... yet they're like "NOOOOOOOOOOO :damn:, don't let them vote".... hmmm....
