What ever happened to the political issue of the Mexican border security??

The Mexican drug cartels make Al Quaida look like boy scouts, and the border seemed to be a big debate issue during the 08 election season. I understand the economy sucks and we have wars going on, but why isn't anyone (namely Republicans) talking about this?

Because Republicans only use it as red meat to fire up their base. They know damn well its impossible to stop the flow of illegals, drugs, Coronas etc. from coming over a 2000 mile long border.

It's impossible to stop 100% especially with all the corruption (our govt making money off the flow) but they could severely hurt the drug trade if they used even half the u.s. Soldiers in Afghanistan on the border instead

as crazy as it sounds the mexican mafia dont want it with the feds, there isnt really a lot of border crime relatively speaking and illegal immigration is down, they still are pushing drugs across the border but the violence that goes along with it stays south of the border

personally, i think the gov't is in bed with the cartels. they want a cut of that drug money and want the majority of our populace sedated and apathetic

I was thinking about this the other day too tho. A couple years ago everyone was waiting for Mexico to collapse and the gang wars to spill over in America. Not so much anymore...

If i was a demonic republican id let the cartels bubble till 2016 and let them begin escalating violence at the end of a democratic term and save the day, for america with a republican pres who will take back america, for americans which is so american, friends.

It's only an issue now to the "fringe" of GOP as well. I think most people woke up to the fact that the "extreme violence" was only occurring on one side of the boarder and it wasn't the american side.

Most people i know just don't go to mexico anymore...
