I think it's hilarious when they break character and you see them genuinely having fun. IMO that was one of the best things about Fallon's sketches.
but I also read somewhere that Lorne Michaels is a huge a$$hole when the cast and guests stray too far away from the "script" and goes off on their own improvisations.
case in point, Adrien Brody.
