Say you found that your flow was off in a few places and the delivery could have more energy but the overall project was great. Change a hook in a song chop a few bars that kinda thing.

Let's say my quality control was not as sharp as it could have been and I rushed some recordings because of the 2 hour studio time limit and a desperation to put these tapes in the hands of famous rappers/ DJs

Would it be ok to remaster your own mixtape to meet your own high standards?

so you're saying you made a demo you dont like and people have it as we speak, and you want to redo the demo and send the better version to them?
or to new heads who never heard it?
you still got those old copies floating even if you redo and remix and remaster.
how bad is the originals? you gonna get clowned when your new remastered songs come out?

you're always going to find issues with things you did in the past and realistically you can keep doing iterations until you are satisfied...but it can also ruin something that didnt need to be fixed in the first place...

sometimes you gotta leave shyt how it is and move on...but if you can truly make it better then go for it..

look at Kanye...some of his songs exist online in multiple versions because he is constantly touching them up again...shyt the Pablo album came out like 5 different times with all types of random changes....its comparable to George Lucas rereleasing the old Star Wars...and why i bring him up is because he negatively affected his old work with all the new additions to it...theres a thin line between fixing something up and completely destroying it.
