What does it mean to be about "that life" for a rapper?

just curious, because it seems like a lot of you give props to nikkas like keef and other wild nikkas, claiming they're "about that life." while, on the other hand, you down certain nikkas who you question if they're really about that shyt -- like camron, for an example. i just feel like a lot of the rappers that you claim are about "that life" are the nikkas who don't become bosses. look at the real drug lords of our time.

meech, frank lucas, rich porter, freeway rick, even that nikka who was managing game and them and just got convicted on a bunch of shyt (his name escapes me)...anyway, the point is, these are dudes who never wilded out like that, yet they WERE THAT LIFE. they weren't just "about that life." these nikkas were the bosses of that life, but you never saw them flashing guns and going extra with their shyt.

i understand that. really. but i'm addressing nikkas who come into keef threads and yap about how those nikkas are really about "that life." i'm trying to understand what the "life" entails, because a lot of cats in the game act the exact opposite of these dudes. and some people here might say they ain't about "that life."

let me get this straight. this is an exhibit of what? rappers that truly are about "that life." that means, if we are to follow what you're arguing, the "life" entails bragging about your guns and blatantly provoking nikkas into beefs. is that correct? am i missing something?

jay-z is a great example. he never bragged about the guns. he never flashed shyt like a gun toting braggart. there's hardly any time that jay-z has been the one to act like boosie. he's the exact opposite. quiet, reserved, and tactful. but, is jay-z about "that life"? or was he?

you prove my point. these days, nikkas would say some soft-spoken guy like quik wasn't about that life. the dudes who don't wild out on camera are accused of not being about that life, yet these impulsive animal ass nikkas flashing guns to millions of people are the ones who ARE about that life. it makes you wonder what "life" they're talking about.

successful drug dealers don't act like the dudes people claim to be about "that life."
