“A book is made from a tree. It is an assemblage of flat, flexible parts (still called "leaves") imprinted with dark pigmented squiggles. One glance at it and you hear the voice of another person, perhaps someone dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, the author is speaking, clearly and silently, inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people, citizens of distant epochs, who never knew one another. Books break the shackles of time, proof that humans can work magic.”

Do you agree with the bold?

mostly

but I believe oral memorization traditions are underrated and we need to pay more attention to them

of course the problem with oral transmission is the chinese whispers ('telephone') issue

oral tradition could only get our species so far

can you imagine trying to do 'science' without writing?

our best invention is whatever we create

magic=manifestation

manifestation=using free will and will power to create your desired reality

I mean in terms of literature, history etc

many european poems and plays (robert burns, shakespeare etc.) are basically drawn heavily from an oral folk tradition

so when we take written history seriously and not oral history we might be missing out on big portions of human history

Oral history - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

the best way to preserve something of course is to write it down, my point was just that we need to value information passed orally as well so we can write it down before it's too late

also important is the actual INTERNALIZING of the information/knowledge/wisdom, and making it a part of you, your being, and your character. it becomes a learned lesson in your souls memory.

the scrolls are absolutely necessary as well. they are the scribed blueprint, their existence is essential.

in that way literature has preserved those oral traditions

I'm not saying oral traditions have no value, just that they could only get us so far. writing was a huge step in our evolution as a species. it allowed our collective knowledge to grow immensely

Please don't take this the wrong way brother, and I promise I am not dismissing you outright, but what exactly are you saying? What is the meaning behind these vague statements?

It seems you're throwing New Age Chinese fortune cookie wisdom out there for the sake of it. Can you back up what you said with examples, proof, instructions, science or philosophical schools of thought? Again, I'm willing to listen or read what you have to provide as long as we both agree it is legitimate.
