Long overdue. Everyone has an opinion on a movie being good or bad. What do you look for in a movie to make your judgment?

Me, I'm into story first. That's what I'm interested in the most. Characters are secondary unless there's one that grabs my attention on the fly. Cinematography is probably third. Acting is pretty low on my list.

This is pretty much for drama flicks. Comedy is all about the comedy. Action flicks are a mix.

Acting and dialogue can make or break a movie to me:yeshrug: so that's first for.

For example, triple9 was a so/so story but the acting was :whew:

Storyline of course is next.

eventhough I have this as the third , cinematography along with music catches my initial attention but that doesn't make or break a movie to me.

Disgusting, sophomoric comedy with some moments of heart warming messages of positivity. Some of the Seth Rogen films had it. It not that, then I'd take a Wayans Brothers comedy always. That the only genre I like nowadays. Rogen and Melissa McCarthy do me good recently.

I collected some DVd's that looked interesting, have like 30, I still haven't watched b/c they're not comedies. And rarely do films have all the things ya mentioned.

Saw Lucy (terrible, couldn't wait til it's over -- terrible ending) and latest Hunger games (couldn't finish it, but loved first two films). Want to revisit A Beautiful Mind, but it's prolly overrated. Want to check Chiraq, but heard it wasn't well done. Browsed for a while to find Limitless on Blu Ray for sale, finally copped, but sill haven't watched it.

The story doesn't have to be the best.

I wanna laugh at a comedy, get shooked at a horror film, feel some excitement in action films. My standards vary based on the type of movie I'm watching tho

That's bare minimum for me. I don't have to relate to it and I'm not expecting every movie to be super deep and sophisticated.

If I watch a movie and I felt entertained at yhe end then it's all good with me.

if a movie accomplishes what it's trying to do, i can at least respect it whether or not i enjoy it :yeshrug:

so different criteria for different movies.

a movie can be about some friends just talking over dinner.. but that dialogue better be top notch or

it depends on the genre when it comes to technical things. but, overall, i prefer original stories, actors i don't know too well to step up and takeover and make an impression, cinematography and music is important as well. while i won't dismiss a movie because of lack of original execution, if i see a movie that manages to do well in these categories, i'm usually intrigued. action and drama, historical, sci-fi, non-fiction, present day; these genres interest me. comedies don't hit me like they use to, i haven't seen a really funny movie in a while. and horror movies are comedy to me.
